CORE INVESTIGATOR GROUP
A plan for a new Core Investigator Group within McSPI was presented at the McSPI Meeting in Orlando on May 5. This international core group would be made up of investigators who have a desire and the time to participate in sponsored clinical trials. The concept was well received by the audience and many attendees expressed their interest in being a part of this group. IREF is now working on developing this group and making it a reality by seeking additional interested investigators.
There are several advantages to the investigator and the site in being a part of this core group. The investigator would obtain clinical trial contracts and IREF would refer this group first to sponsors. In addition, funding from sponsored clinical trials could be used to support the coordinator’s salary and the investigator’s own research.
We are seeking investigators for this core group who:
  • Are responsive during the start-up & enrollment phases of a trial
  • Understand what their IRB and Grants/Contracts Office require
  • Have up-to-date regulatory documents (1572, CV, Financial disclosure, etc) ready
  • Have support staff (for administrative needs & research coordination) identified and available
If an investigator is interested in their site being part of this core group, but doesn’t have the time to commit to it, then they are certainly welcome to refer a junior investigator from their site to the core group.
